I saw this cool collection of pears the other day and after looking at some fruit and vegetable sketches in someone's blog (sorry, don't remember whose), I decided to paint this little picture in my new 12 x 18 watercolor sketchbook.
I think they look rather smart there, floating in space. A little photoshopping was used, so I may have cheated some, still, it's ok. Afterall, it is art, right?
watercolor, PS, in 12 x 18 watercolor sketchbook
A sketch to be proud of, I think. Adept use of watercolors - a happy grouping!
ReplyDeleteCute crowd! And yes, everything is allowed in art...
ReplyDeleteThey're beautiful! I like how clear and bright the lighting is.
ReplyDeleteI like the mixture of colours and sizes, it makes it interesting. Great painting!
ReplyDeleteLovely composition. I love pears as an art subject.
ReplyDeleteYes, I think floating in space makes them more special than if they were surrounded by backgrounds, etc. What did you do with photoshop?
ReplyDelete@ Katherine: Not much really, just a little lighting modification and cleaning up of the white background.
ReplyDeleteI love the space around the pears! Super painting.
ReplyDeleteFantastic coloration and shading Jim =) beautiful cluster!
ReplyDeleteA perfect portrait of a party of pears! nancy
