While waiting for my son to browse his way through the cd's and games at Hastings last night, I sketched this young man. He was intent on his studies and soon I realized he was reading, and taking notes, from a book entitled simply, "Self Esteem." I'm of the belief that self esteem is not something one gains from reading a book so much as it is the result of the successes one experiences from being persistent. When he got up I noticed his shirt said, across the front, "Dartmouth." If he bought it at the bookstore on campus, I think he probably has plenty of self esteem. I think he was working on an assignment of some sort.
