"A Late-Winter Day's Dream"

The title doesn't necessarily say it all, especially if you don't live on one of the more northern latitudes in the USA like I do. Believe me, today is NOT a summer day. But it's nice to dream - isn't it?

I drove down along the Columbia River today and spotted this little sailboat moored next to the gas attendent and decided to let it be the first entry into my new 6 x 9 inch, Super Deluxe, Aquabee Sketchbook.

Looking across the water, in the background, I just couldn't bring myself to sketch those miserable, dead-looking, trees; so I pretended it was a nice sun-filled day in June, or July instead.

In reality, today is an overcast, dull, gray, kinda cold day; and being March 1st, there are no leaves on anything deciduous including all the trees back there on Bateman Island (background).

I may have discovered how to beat these winter doldrums...pretend it's summer...
