Sketchbook Project #27: Amadeus Modigliani

So, I went to google and did a search for images of Modigliani himself because I thought it might be fun to try to do a sketch of him, as he might have approached a self-portrait.

Of course I need to be careful less anyone think I'm getting big headed about "doing" Modigliani. The last person I would want upset with me is, the man himself, Amadeus.

Still, I find his style really interesting and honestly, for me, it seems somehow to fit with what I like to do: quick sketches, long noses, and long necks.

  1. Great series. I love Modigliani, have for years. For the last two years at Artbasel in Miami Beach, there has been an original Modigliani of a married couple. I always spend much time in front of it - in awe. I think it is fun how you gave Modigliani himself an elongated neck!

  4. I think he would be flattered knowing you emulated his style for his own portrait!
