A Hunger for Knowledge

A Hunger for Knowledge

This guy sat for a good twenty minutes reading his magazine. Somehow, while drawing him, I began to associate him with the ad on the back of the magazine, "When Evil Calls," I mean, who would read something like that? So after finishing my sketch and reading about 60 pages of "Blue Like Jazz," a book of memoirs I found, and getting up to go, he looked up at me and an almost feminine voice asked me for the time. I guess he isn't evil at all; or, wait a minute . . .

  1. What fun... I'm so timid about drawing people... and I do it so badly, I;m afraid the object of my drawing might see what I've done and be angry... so I don't usually draw 'live' people... this guy hangs out at my Barnes and Snowball too... I LOVE this sketch

  3. You are lucky to find someone who'll sit still for so long while you draw!

Do you start right off with pen? Do you do the colorwork while sketching or later at home?

  4. I've been caught sketching people before, I like the idea of someone reading and I don't have to worry about features! Great job.
