These three pears were begging for something more, so I sketched them out this afternoon while watching the Daytona 500. Does it help keep one's nerves steady while these cars travel at 190 mph with only six inches seperating them? Not really. The adrenalin is good; and only eighteen laps to go.
8 x 10 watercolor and graphite on arches #140 sketchbook paper.
I first started sketching from life about 11 years ago while the family were watching Formula 1 racing! I think it helped me to detach myself from the action ... I'm no good at dealing with stress ...
ReplyDeleteReally like the brightness of your pears against the dark background - and the fact that the background is not just dark, but a vibrant blue in places.
Wonderful richness of colors... especially considering it's watercolor! Nothing wishy washy here.
ReplyDeleteThese are beautiful! I love the light and color of each one!
ReplyDeleteGreat use of color here! That dark background really makes the pears pop out!
ReplyDeleteThe colors and shadows are great.
ReplyDeleteComplimentary colors are wonderful.

Love the intensity of your colours. I...um...actually thought it was an oil on first glance. That front pear has an absolutely beautiful roundness to the one end, the highlight it perfect.
ReplyDeleteOh YAY! It is good to see you doing watercolor again -- look at those wonderful deep darks.
