"Through the Ages"

I'm reluctant to post another link for the EDMG for the latest challenge, Musical Instruments, but I can't help myself. When I saw the challenge I got so excited because I have this painting and these sketches that few people have seen, so this is a wonderful opporunity to BORE THE HELL out of all of you.....just kidding!

A friend, Carlos, is a fabulous flute player who performs with a small quartet of musicians on the Olympic Peninsula in Washington state. The group is called, "Through the Ages." Their genre is jazz; and their gigs include dinner parties, weddings, Sunday's at the Landing for the Sunday brunch crowd, Summer Nights on the Pier, and many other locations throughout the area.

  1. I love these Jim... please don't hold back. I officially give you my "space" for a musical instrument posting this week as I know I won't get it done. :)

  2. Thank you, Patsy. I'm thinking there might be just a little room left (even though I've hogged most of it) for your post too...I look forward to seeing it, ok? ok!

  5. Hey man, the second sketch, "Carlos" is one of the strongest I have seen from you yet. It's accurate, but still loose. Nice job.

  7. Jim, I agree with Chuck. "Carlos" is really well done -- and that's a difficult pose! I'm IMPRESSED! All of them are wonderful. Has the band seen your sketches of them?

  8. Great sketches. They would look wonderful as a collage. And you really got the feeling for each one.

  9. WOW, you tackled a whole jazz band. I'm impressed. I need to get a move on and get an instrument sketched. Way to go Jim! I love the one with the flute coming out at the viewer--a difficult angle for sketching, but you nailed it!
