"Opening Day"

What could be more fun than watching the little ones play baseball?

This last Saturday I joined my daughter and son-in-law to watch two of my grandkids on Opening Day. It was a real blast.

At one point one of the pitchers, who doesn't really pitch, sat down and began pouring dust over his legs while the game swirled about him. The center fielder sat just behind second base and pulled blades of grass.

I can't wait for the seagulls to start coming around - great times for long balls and lots of base running while the outfielders watch the birds.

I am definitely looking forward to summer with these little guys and my sketchbook!

  1. You hit a sensitive spot. I used to watch one of those grass-pullers evolve over four years into an all-star and exceptional athlete. Now he's an unrepentant teenager throwing it all away. Sorry to vent, but your imagery moved me. Like your sketches, too.

  2. Verry nice drawings and sketches! Love them! (I can imagine the game while looking at the sketche and reading your story about it! So nice!)

  3. I went to my nephew's baseball game and got totally involved drawing a composite batter. I am amazed you got so much. What great practice! Nice job.

  4. Great sketches - and I loved the tale about the less-than-willings players!
