"Lunch at the Lake Mead Marina"

We are in Las Vegas this week with good friends, MaryJane, and Don. Today we drove down to Hoover Dam and walked across the new "Mike O'Callaghan-Pat Tillman Memorial Bridge"; then afterwards we drove to the Lake Mead Marina and had a late dinner.

One thing about traveling with non-sketchers is that it is rather difficult to stop long enough to do any sketching.

While we sat on this dock and had a great meal, I couldn't help think this would be a good site for sketching. Problem was though, I don't want them waiting on me.

So, while sitting in the backseat on the way back to the resort in Las Vegas, I sketched this out; then painted it just after we arrived.

  2. This is really beautiful. You captured the mood of the moment so perfectly. I can't believe you 'sketched' it on the run like that!

  4. Great sketch, and I sympathize about being with nonsketchers and not wanting to make them wait. sigh

  6. Stunning, just stunning! Love the ink work. Love it all - the colors you chose, the reflections, etc. How did you get the lines on that first boat - does the ink have a reddish or sepia tint?
