These two ladies adorn a frame in a local eatery where my wife and I enjoyed chicken wings and a scrumptious
artichoke, spinach dip for lunch today. While we waited for the food, I did this quick sketch of the two ladies. I like the way the one of the left is watching the other. I can't tell if she's envious, or jealous, or just interested; maybe she's getting simply tired of loaning out her favorite lipstick.
Small moleskine sketchbook and graphite
Hmmm.. maybe her friend stopped talking at a critical point in an exciting story to put on her lipstick (for dramatic pause, of course) and she's waiting for her to get to the punch line! :-)
ReplyDeleteGreat drawing!
GREAT SKETCH, Jim!! My husband gives me that same exasperated sigh! "Are you going to bring THAT everywhere???" BIG SIGH! "I thought we were going (insert any and all) Hiking? OUT to dinner? For a WALK!" LOLOL
ReplyDeleteAh Jim, this is wonderful you have caught their moods very well.
ReplyDeleteYou really captured a moment here. It feels like a polaroid snapshot.
ReplyDeleteGreat sketch, Jim, and I sympathise wih you about your wife getting grumpy over your sketching. My hubby gets twitchy when I pull out my Moleskine, too.
ReplyDeleteHi Jim
ReplyDeleteI was drawn to your site by your story about your attempt to seem engaged in conversation with your wife while really you're sketching. Been there. But I love the sketch.
Here's my question: Is there any easy way to describe how you created the "spinach dip" recipe link in your blog? I love when people do that, but I haven't figured out how.
WOW, good for you, capturing these subjects in "real time", meaning they could move at any given moment. LOL I haven't done a lot of that live people drawing thing yet.
