"Life Drawing: Man"

The model couldn't keep his eyes open, so I screwed up his mouth...lol. This guy is a regular model at our monthly life drawing sessions. I think he's an ok model, but the women in the sessions simply rave about him, to him. It's simply embarassing.

  1. I really like the way you did the shading on this one. I'm envious of you guys who get to do life drawing, even if it is just once a month!

  2. Oh wow -- I just went to your new "My Yahoo" sketches link, and then tracked back to your photo album and looked at your watercolors! (hope you don't mind -- I wasn't snooping, just accidentally got there) They are fantastic -- I especially loved the Daisies and the Lavendar with Oranges ... Did you use ink for the black on the Daisies painting?

  3. Hi Linda, Thanks for your kind comments regarding the paintings. The Daisies painting was done two or three years ago, so I don't remember what paints I actually used. No, it wasn't ink, it was thalo purple and then I'm not sure. I use the purple a LOT for dark, deep values. Also, I don't know if it shows up or not, but in the darkened area on the original you can see more of the fence line running through it; you're looking into a corner of the fence in that image.

  4. And I really like how you did the hair and the light reflection on his forehead. And I went to your yahoo album too. It's so neat to see a whole body of work almost like a prive gallery show.
