"The Bomber Drive-In"

k

We drove over to Richland this evening with the express intent to try out the "Bomber Drive-In" simply because we saw a number of people waiting at their window a fews days ago and we thought they might be good.

"Bomber?"

Richland, WA., is the city whose high school mascot is a bomber. That's right, an airplane that drops bombs: on cities, people, dogs, cars, wild birds and whatever else lies below. As it turns out, the plutonium used in the Nagasaki bomb, dropped in 1945 on Nagasaki, Japan, was produced just north of Richland on the Hanford Nuclear Reservation back in the mid-forties - but all that's another story - back to the 'burgers.

The bun was dry, the pattie was thin (unlike the pattie in my sketch which represents something akin to what I was searcing for), the shredded lettuce took up most of the room between the buns and the tomato was tasteless! The fries were good, but certainly not good for you: laced with salt. The milkshakes were the bomb! (Ahem, pun intended.)

Now, if you want a pretty good hamburger, mozy on over to Zip's in Kennewick, WA. They been doing burgers there since the early '50's and they are very good burgers. Now, they aren't what you see on "Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives," on the Food Network channel, but they're good enough to raise your cholesterol, possibly to the sludge level, and lace your blood with some might fine lipids.

  4. Awesome sketch! I like how you drew the cheese melting in the sandwich, which makes it look very delicious.

  5. Your sketch is great. I like McDonalds 1/3 pounder myself and their fries are the best. Their milkshakes arent' good either though.

  6. The new baseball team here is called the Brazos Valley Bombers. Their mascot is a baseball! I like your story better!
Most of the hamburgers today are a total disappointment. Whataburger used to have wonderful juicy thick patties and tastey tomatoes, but not so anymore. There's a place here called Fatburger that sounds like it might be good, but that's not on my diet now. I do not want anymore clogged arteries! 8>)
